What is an Announcement Channel?
An Announcement Channel is a channel created by a Community Admin or Owner specifically for sending announcements to multiple people.
Announcement Channels are similar to group chats, but they give you more control over who can send and receive messages.
Important: An Announcement Channel must be created before you can send an Announcement.
What is an Announcement?
An Announcement is a message sent through an Announcement Channel to multiple recipients at the same time. This feature was previously called Broadcast Messaging because it allows you to broadcast the same message to multiple people.
Announcements can be used for things like:
- Emergency notifications
- Weather-related updates
- Social or activity updates
- Community announcements
- Other important information that needs to be shared with multiple people
How are Announcements different from group chats?
The biggest difference is how replies are handled.
When someone replies to an Announcement, their reply is sent privately to the person who sent the Announcement. Other recipients of the Announcement cannot see the reply.
This helps keep conversations between family members and staff private, especially when a response may contain a question or other sensitive information.
